Job Summary:

The Lighthouse Children's Homes and The Porthouse Young Adults home provide care for children and young adults with autism and learning disabilities and are based in Raynes Park, Worcester Park and Surbiton, SW London. Role Requirements:

  • At least 4 years experience working with autistic and multiple learning disability children and young adults

  • Ability to interact with a range of young people with Autism and SEN

  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team

  • Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People/Residential Childcare is required

  • Full UK driving licence is required

  • Good written and spoken English

  • Experience of line managing and supervising staff.

  • Experience working as night staff

  • Experience working in residential care

Role Responsibilities

  • Monitor night staff across 3 Reamcare services. This includes visiting multiple sites per night and managing staff across all homes.

  • Support night staff with their responsibilities and ensure care plans are effectively implemented.

  • Ensure team members are carrying out personal care as required whilst maintaining privacy and dignity and aid in this activity where and when required.

  • Establish and maintain night time routines within the home and ensure high quality, consistent care is delivered to the children and young people in relation to their physical, behavioural and emotional needs.

  • Act as a positive role model for children and young people and provide advice and support with regard to their social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

  • Encourage and assist children and young people to be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives and realise their full potential.

  • Provide support and encouragement to children, young people and team in a way that is respectful at all times.

  • Participate in the assessment of the children’s needs, care planning and implement change when required.

  • Liaise with staff and multi-agencies to ensure that children and young adults receive support relevant to their changing health, education and care needs.

  • Where necessary be happy to help team members complete their duties to ensure tasks allocated on shifts are completed on time.

  • Attend, contribute and lead night team meetings and staff meetings when required to ensure that all issues relating to the management of the service are fully understood.

  • Ensure effective, positive communication with night staff and with the team overall, promoting best practice at all times.

  • Undertake effective supervisions and appraisals with your supervisees to create a culture of supported development, high morale and good performance within the staff team.

  • Take full part in duty rotas including weekends, sleeping and waking night duties if required in emergencies. The night team leader will work across multiple sites, working a combination of night shifts and day shifts to coordinate between staff and management. This will include monitoring multiple sites, including unannounced visits.

  • Undertake all statutory and mandatory training relevant to the needs of the service in order to professionally develop and gain skills beneficial to the children and young people.

  • Liaise with the managers on staff grievances and disciplinary procedures when required.

  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of staff when required and ensure all new staff receive a full induction, discussion on training and create a PDP. Help in mentoring new members of the team.

Job Type, Salary and Hours: The job is full time and will consist of 40 hours per week on a shift basis. This includes working some weekends. Salary is £25,935 - £26,422 depending on experience.
